The ELA M 251T Tube Microphone by Telefunken is considered by many one of the most essential microphones in recording history and is continuously sought after by artists and leading industry professionals in the most prestigious recording facilities in the world. It sits at the top of Telefunken's lineage of quality, professional microphones tracing back to the original Neumann U-47 sold under the Telefunken name and logo.
Both the ELA M 251T and its brother, the ELA M 251E feature switchable cardioid, omnidirectional and figure 8 polar patterns and use the 6072a tube which captures the unparalleled warm, detailed sound found in countless recordings. The difference between the two however is the capsule. The ELA M 251E uses the original CK12 while the ELA M 251T features the more recently designed CK13. Despite being housed in the CK12 body, the CK13 capsule is constructed of a much lighter material called Alloy 2213 which is an amalgam of titanium and aluminum developed by the aerospace industry. This metal is not only far more lightweight than the gold used in the original CK12 but it is also notably more rigid. As a result, the CK13 has proven to provide greater accuracy in low frequency ranges while also displaying a higher degree of detail than the CK12 without losing the depth of audio the ELA M 25x microphones have always been known for. This microphone also comes equipped with all essential accessories such as the power supply, custom mic stand end, 25' Gotham cable, oak storage box, and leather bound Cordora combination locking flight case.
