Jeff Del Bello is the hands-on president and Senior engineer for dB Sound. Jeff's early years were centered in music with a musical family at a very young age. Followed by 20 years of orchestral bass culminating in paid gigs with the Manhattan symphony @ Lincoln center in the late 1980s. Throughout his teens and into his 30s he performed w/ many Rock acts touring in US, Europe & the far east. In 1988 he trained as a technician at The Hit Factory under then chief technician Chris Muth of Dangerous Music/Sterling Sound . After leaving Hit Factory, Jeff spent a year as recording engineer at Loho Studios & Zound Sound and also worked as an assistant at Greene St. Recording working under Rod Hui, Nick Sansano, Chris Shaw and many others. At this time Greene St. Recording was the mecca for rap music and remixes, pumping out albums from such artists as Public Enemy, LL Cool J and a myriad of others under the umbrella of "The Bomb Squad Productions" of Hank Shocklee and Eric Sadler.
After some time working behind the board, Jeff accepted a job as chief technician at Soundtrack Recording Group in NYC, managing 9 music and video post production studios. In the three years as chief tech Jeff managed a staff of five technical engineers and helped Soundtrack to grow with the addition of several new room installations. It was at this time, in 1992 that dB Sound Design was conceived as an independent freelance technical service and wiring company.
dB Sound has grown immensely since that time through hard work, experience and expertise. Through the years, we made an organic move towards supplying not only our services, but also equipment sales. It was a natural move allowing us to provide full turn-key systems. Our technical experience has made our customers very comfortable buying gear from us, since we know what it is that we are selling, and can provide service for them for years to come.
Also instrumental in dB Sound's success has been the addition of Francis Valentine as Senior Engineer. He has been with us for more than 15 years, and is a very valuable asset with his diverse talents including being a Bad Ass drummer from Berklee!
dB Sound has recently broken new ground with event space design/build projects. In 2015 we partnered with d&b Audiotechnik to create the new critically acclaimed Teragram Ballroom, a Rock-n-Roll club in Los Angeles, which was featured in Pro Sound News in 2015. In 2016 dB Sound teamed up with d&b Audiotechnik again to redesign and install the sound system in the historic Bowery Ballroom in NYC. Look for a full story on that project in Pro Sound News in 2016.In 2022 we designed a new venue in DTLA The Bellwether featured in Pro Sound News in Aug 2023. This is a new and growing part of our business, and has been a great experience for us..
Whether we are designing, providing equiment and installing venues in NYC and LA for , Michael Swier and the Bowery Ballroom crew, or studios for the, Clive Davis Institute at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Stones Mobile Truck for the Luke Bros. from legendary Loho Studio, or installing the entire facilities for SAE NY not once but twice, we strive for excellence in everything we do.
